How to

Hg (mercury)
People sometimes ask why our lamps are marked "Hg". That is the chemical symbol for the element mercury, and EPA regulations require that we stamp all fluorescent lamps with the Hg symbol. All fluorescent lamps have a tiny amount of mercury in them, it is impossible to build a fluorescent lamp without it. This is why all fluorescent lamps should be disposed of at a hazardous waste site, and not just thrown away. This includes small CFL lamps, as they also have mercury in them.
